A well known heavy industrial crane company contacted us regarding a serious situation involving the main turbine deck operating crane for a hydro electric plant. This plant was in the process of relocating a 30 ton generator stator when the crane experienced a catastrophic failure to the main guide bearings of the gear wheels that move the crane. We were called to meet with the plant manager of the hydro electric plant and a representative from the crane company. During this meeting we were informed of the situation. We gathered the necessary data and engineered a solution.

We manufactured a new pedestal housing with 2 new bronze inserts and shims with a design for adjustment to ensure the gearing mesh would be correct. We completed this job so that the crane company could complete their job.
